Alcohol though brings many bad impacts on the health but this fact can’t be overseen that normal usage of alcohol also brings some health benefits; recently a study has shown that drinking the alcohol may help reduce the severity of Rheumatoid arthritis and it also cuts short the risks of developing the painful and crippling diseases.
The research was led by Gerry Wilson, a professor at the University of Sheffield and in this study 873 arthritis people was asked about their consumption of alcohol in the daily life and with that a control group of 1,004 people were also contacted. During the study the participants have to fill a detailed questionnaire and were also given X-rays and blood tests.
While discussing about the results lead author James Maxwell, a rheumatologist at the Rotherham Foundation NHS Trust “We found that patients who had drunk alcohol most frequently had symptoms that were less severe than those who had never drunk alcohol or only drunk it infrequently”.
From the results this thing was quite clear that the non-drinkers are four time more likely to develop the rheumatoid arthritis and for the drinkers this is a good news that rheumatoid arthritis will stay away from them.
This study carries a limitation and according to that there was no amount specified for alcohol consumption that will keep a person away from such painful problem of joints.
