Overview:
Breast thermography is a clinical investigative test. In this test extremely focused infrared cameras are used to gauge the heat coming from breast.
USFDA (United States Food and Administration) has approved thermography to diagnose the breast cancer.
Breast thermography is renowned and becoming popular for diagnostic purpose, so qualified technicians and doctors are serving in this field.
How is Breast Thermography Performed?
Acknowledging about proper procedures and measures are very important to execute breast thermography. In thermography heat is measured. In this diagnostic test, it is necessary that patient should be in thermal steady state. Thermal state ensures that impropriate heat will be removed from the body before examination.
Examination Room Code of Behavior:
Thermogram test performed room should have appropriate space to move around the technician, patient and accommodate the equipment. Thermography is also performed on arms and legs too. So the room having enough space is necessary. This room should have equipped with humidity control and climate equipment. Curtained and shaded windows will resist outside light to come in. Concerned technician should be aware of these basic protocols.
How the test is performed?
You will be provided a detailed instructions chart before the test is being performed. These cautions are based on your clinical history, body structure and signed learned agreement.

Before going to thermographic room, you will be disrobed from round neck, waist up and jewelry as well. You will sit for acclimation. In this process your body temperature will be balanced as compare to thermography room temperature. The acclimation process is simple but it is important too.
You will remain here for 15 minutes approximately. After this images will be captured of both of your breast from front, sides, underneath and from an angel of 45 degree. This angel is also called 45 degrees. After this process you would be asked to put your hands or feet in ice water. These are important components for quality thermal examination and one should observed must.
Accuracy in Thermography of Breast:
Precision is very important in thermography. This could be only done when technical staff is well trained and using the exact type of thermography camera. Depending upon recent studies, in late 1990 the accuracy rate was 96% approximately.
Public is most benefited by thermography and the medical professionals as well. The high-risk patients are identified by thermography very accurately. Thermography has low side affects because of non-radiation, low cost and non contact. Thermography results are best for diagnostic purpose only if it is carefully conducted under prescribed clinical measures.
